Growing Your Best Garden - 5/18/2025
9 - 11:30 am The health of your plants starts with the soil. But boosting the resilience and productivity of your garden doesn't have to mean buying bags of fertilizer. In fact, applying too much can harm the water quality of our freshwater ponds and coastal bays. Instead, you can make your own soil amendments that work in balance with our ecosystem while providing the added benefit of saving you money.
This workshop goes beyond composting to teach you ways to create greater biological activity and mineral availability in your soil by using readily available materials that cost little or nothing; you might already be throwing some of them away! Your plants will benefit by having increased pest and disease resistance, better yields, and higher nutrient density.
We’ll cover mulches, plant teas, and compost teas in both an indoor presentation and an outdoor demonstration. You will be amazed at how much of what we discard is actually good for our garden ecosystem as it rejuvenates and balances the soil.
